Connect LiquidLM in ChatGPT web

ChatGPT web setup: native OAuth first, CLI-managed OAuth second, PAT only as a last fallback.

Native OAuth — default

Enable developer mode in ChatGPT Settings → Security and login when available to your account. Create a developer-mode app in the Apps/Plugins controls, enter the endpoint, select OAuth, and complete the LiquidLM sign-in and consent flow. Refresh the tool catalog after connecting; expect search and fetch alongside LiquidLM tools.

CLI-managed OAuth — local-client alternative

Hosted ChatGPT cannot launch a local stdio process. liquidlm login plus liquidlm mcp serve is supported in local clients such as Codex, Cursor and Claude Desktop; it is not a ChatGPT web connection method. Use one of those client guides if you need the CLI-managed alternative.

npm install -g @liquidlm/cli@latest
unset LIQUIDLM_API_TOKEN LIQUIDLM_TOKEN
liquidlm login
liquidlm whoami
# For a local MCP client to launch, not ChatGPT web:
liquidlm mcp serve

PAT — unavailable in the documented ChatGPT connector UI

ChatGPT documents OAuth, no authentication and mixed authentication for custom apps, with no arbitrary static Authorization-header configuration. A LiquidLM PAT is not an OAuth client secret. Do not paste it into a URL or client-secret field. To use a PAT explicitly, choose a compatible local client; this example is Codex and is a last fallback only.

codex mcp add liquidlm --url https://mcp.liquidlm.com/v1/mcp --bearer-token-env-var LIQUIDLM_API_TOKEN

Verify and recover

Search for a distinctive item in your vault, then call get_knowledge with include_content: true. Check indexing_status and chunks_stale before judging search freshness.

For a failed OAuth refresh, reauthorize once. If failures recur, use CLI-managed OAuth next. Upgrade to CLI 0.1.5 or newer and log in again if an older version lost its refresh token. PAT is the last fallback.

Select one connection mode. Replace the existing liquidlm server entry when switching, preserving unrelated servers. Do not register duplicate connections.
